“Fake it till you make it” might work in a myriad of instances, but queer sexuality isn’t one of them. Isolation experienced when attempting to pass as straight is disheartening. Relationship fantasy narratives can appear to be the optimal coping device in oppressive societies. For this video five women were filmed separately performing domestic activities in a paper mache set. Editing the women through cinematic collage creates imagined scenes of domestic lesbian bliss. This video was featured in a site-specific installation for SOMA’s 2015 Summer Exhibition.
Installation stands 9’ 8” tall x 4’9” wide (with “water” width is 9’8”).
